Welcome to Birch Lane PTA Website

Birch Lane PTA is happy to present this website as an additional information source for parents about Birch Lane Elementary. It is our objective to provide an overview of PTA activities, answer basic information about the PTA, and expose parents to issues within our school system.

Central to the success of our PTA's partnership with the school is the willingness of parents to get involved in the school and with PTA. This website should give you an idea of the myriad of possibilities in volunteering. Please do not hesitate to contact anyone listed in these pages if you are interested in the topic for which he/she is responsible.

The PTA publishes a bi-monthly newsletter that is sent home with your child. The newsletter reviews PTA news, provides a review of grade level classroom activities and plans, and includes a weekly message from our principal, Mrs. Kathy Tyzzer.

The PTA maintains an email distribution list for sending periodic information, reminders and updates to parents and PTA members. Please consider joining our announcement list, it is simple and will keep you informed of all activities in our school.

Why Join PTA?
Primarily to help the PTA foster communication between parents and teachers regarding the activities and issues affecting Birch Lane. Your PTA dues help offset the costs of printing the PTA monthly newsletter, event notices, meeting agendas, and the school directory; the cost of operating a non-profit organization such as insurance and bank charges; and payment of the parent PTA organization (Third District) PTA dues. Also, unless you are a member of the PTA, you cannot vote on PTA business matters at PTA meetings.

The campaign begins officially on March 15 and continues for six weeks. Various promotions are planned, including the annual Schoolapalooza event, which is set for April 24 in downtown Davis.

Blue & White Foundation FUND RUN on March 7

We all know what changes a year can bring and nothing demonstrates that more than the newly renovated Halden Field. It has been just 11 months since the Board of Education gave the green light to the project.  Since that time, we have seen and felt the exciting changes in the district's largest classroom.  The community - businesses and individuals alike - have come together and supported the continued success of this project.  To date, the DHS Blue & White Foundation's Back on Track campaign (http://www.dhsblueandwhite.org) has almost $1 million in committed donations toward Phase 2 of the renovation, and contributions are still being accepted.

Today we stand ready to celebrate the latest addition to the DHS campus - a fully modernized all-weather 8 lane track. On Sunday, March 7 from
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., I invite you to join the Blue & White's FUND RUN.  With races and fun planned for all age groups, it is a great opportunity to take a look and even try out the new track.  Please visit www.dhsblueandwhite.org for details on the day's events.
