Our school district faces a $5.6 million budget gap for next year. The Davis Schools Foundation has launched its annual Dollar-a-Day Campaign to offset cutbacks in educational services and staff that DJUSD plans for 2010-11 in our schools.

Welcome or welcome back to another great school year at Birch Lane Elementary. We have an exciting year ahead with many PTA-sponsored events. One of our first activities will be our 5th Annual Back to School Picnic for the entire school on Thursday, August 25th, from 5:30 to 7:30on the grassy lawn in back of campus. The Hot Dogger and Jamba Juice will be there if you wish to purchase food or feel free to bring your own dinner. This will be a fun opportunity to spend the evening with classmates and teachers and re-connect with friends.
Birch Lane PTA supports all students, teachers and staff. We financially support many campus programs as well as every classroom, including our library, science program and computer lab. Our fund raising efforts are ongoing throughout the year and we can always use more help. If you are new to Birch Lane this year (or even if you're not!), getting involved in the PTA is a great way to make new friends and become part of our wonderful school. In this packet you will find a yellow PTA membership form and a pink PTA volunteer form. We hope you will support PTA and participate in as many ways as possible.
PTA meetings will be held the first Wednesday of the month in the library. All parents and guardians regardless of grade or program are welcome. Come meet new parents or see old friends and bring new ideas for fun activities and/or fund raisers. Please join us in building a better community for our children. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year!

Birch Lane PTA is happy to present this website as an information source for parents about Birch Lane Elementary. It is our objective to provide an overview of PTA activities, answer basic information about the PTA, and expose parents to issues within our school system.
New this year!!! The bi-weekly school newsletter published by the PTA will be distributed to parents and caregivers using the Birch Lane List serve. All Birch Lane families should be on our school list serve this year to ensure that you receive both the newsletter and other important school communications. Sign up here.
Central to the success of our PTA's partnership with the school is the willingness of parents to get involved in the school and with PTA. This website should give you an idea of the myriad of possibilities in volunteering. Please do not hesitate to contact anyone listed in these pages if you are interested in the topic for which he/she is responsible.
